  Refresh your rug regularly by taking it outdoors for a thorough shake once a week. For larger rugs, a second pair of hands can make the task easier. Always use a quality rug pad underneath to provide cushioning and minimize dirt penetration from below.

• Gentle Vacuuming
  When shaking isn’t practical, use a vacuum with a suction-only attachment—avoiding rotary or beater-bar vacuums, which can damage the fibers. Vacuum side to side once or twice a month. Periodically, flip the rug and vacuum the underside for deeper cleaning.

• Annual Sun Exposure
  Once a year, rejuvenate your rug with a few hours of natural sunlight. Hang it outdoors in direct sunlight, flipping it halfway through to ensure even exposure. This gentle process naturally sanitizes and refreshes wool fibers.

• Professional Cleaning
  Every 3 to 5 years, have your rug professionally hand-washed by a specialist experienced with Moroccan rugs. Avoid steam and dry cleaning, as these methods can degrade natural fibers. A proper hand-wash involves pH-balanced shampoo, applied delicately with a soft brush, followed by a thorough rinse to maintain the rug’s integrity.
